Class of 2020

Class of 2020

The 2nd phase of students at our Mwogo Vocational Centre have settled into the first 6 weeks of their years course with great enthusiasm!

The 40 youth, selected from socially vulnerable families, come from rural villages in Mwogo Sector, Rwanda. Enrolment in Hair & Beauty or Tailoring classes gives the opportunity to learn skills that will generate them an income to support themselves and their families.

Mwogo’s an area of extreme poverty. There are few primary schools and no higher education facilities. Overpopulated with children and youth, it’s one of the poorest areas in Rwanda and unemployment is extremely high.

Last year 45 students studied at the Centre. By the end of this year, 85 families in local villages will have youth who are skilled. Potentially, that’s around 500 adults, youth and children benefitting from a raised household income.
