Mdudla School, South Africa
This school based in the heart of the Mduku community now educates over 500 children from 5 years to 14 years. Despite being a Government backed school, they only receive limited funds and rely on outside donors and sponsors to help them. A significant number are orphans who live in hostels and with families locally, although a number of children who go to school here, walk 15km a day.
The Point Foundation stated to work with the school and the wonderful Head Teacher Mr Sangweni to develop their education back in 2007 and has provided funds for building works, including new classrooms, toilets and library, over 500 desks and chairs, playground equipment and other educational material including funds for computers. Mr Sangweni and his staff have such passion to help support these underprivileged children to get a better life through learning with new skills.
