Funding for 24 hour care for 24 youth with severe disabilities, rescued from an orphanage in Rwanda

Jean is 16 and has multiple disabilities including Cerebral Palsy. He is one of 24 disabled young people rescued by the Point Foundation from a badly run orphanage that was being closed down in Rwanda. With no one else to care for them, the Foundation set up “Homes4Life” – a Community Based Living Programme that offers an humanitarian alternative to the degradation of institutionalisation. It provides 4 family style homes and full time trained carers, right in the heart of the community of Gisenyi.

SUSTAINING WAGES FOR FULL TIME CARE IS VITAL TO THE FUTURE SURVIVAL OF THESE 24 PWDs AND IS RESTORING THEIR HEALTH, DIGNITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS.

One carer’s basic living wage is *£30* a week
